Disability Awareness Sunday

Churches across the UK are being invited to take part in Disability Awareness Sunday 2026.

The official date is 27th September but celebrate on any Sunday that suits your church.

The 2026 theme is 'One Body, Many Parts' and draws on ! Corinthians 12: 12-27 to celebrate the truth that the Church is not complete without disabled people.

Free, creative new resources are available to download from Christian charity Through the Roof. These have been produced with young autistic Christian Triona Brading who has produced a short video about 'the Body of Christ': the Church – with disabled and neurodivergent people as essential parts of that body. Her gentle humour opens up a powerful challenge: what does it really mean for the Church to live as one body, where every person — disabled or not — is welcomed, needed and able to play their part?

The resources are designed to help churches move beyond awareness towards Access, Belonging and Commission: the ABC of Disability Inclusion, and to spark conversations that can lead to lasting change. These are available from Through the Roof (https://throughtheroof.org/forchurches/disability-awareness-sunday/ ) and include:

  • Two short videos
  • A ready‑to‑use service outline
  • Practical ideas for all-age worship and youth activities

As churches across the UK – and beyond – join in, Through the Roof hopes Disability Awareness Sunday 2026 will inspire many to say with confidence: we are one body, with many parts – and everyone matters.
