Bishop of St Davids

The Rt Revd Dorrien Davies is the 130th Bishop of St Davids.

Born in 1964 in Abergwili, near Carmarthen, he is a graduate of the University of Wales, Lampeter. He was ordained deacon in 1988 and priest in 1989.

He served his curacy in Llanelli before serving as Vicar of Ystrad Aeron and later St Dogmaels. In 2007, he was made a Canon of St Davids Cathedral and, in 2010, became a Canon Residentiary. In 2017, he was appointed Archdeacon of Carmarthen.

He was elected Bishop of St Davids in November 2023, consecrated in January 2024 and enthroned at St Davids Cathedral in February 2024.

In September 2026, Bishop Dorrien was installed as Dean of the Royal Chaplaincy for Wales during a special Accession Day service at St Davids Cathedral.

A native Welsh speaker, Bishop Dorrien is married to Rosie and they have two sons, Morgan and Lewis.
