Can you help?
Pobl Dewi needs a new Managing Editor. Archdeacon Mones Farah would like to hear from readers who are interested in this important part of St Davids mission strategy.
Change inevitably comes to us all and touches every aspect of life and ministry. This edition of Pobl Dewi comes at a moment of transition, serving as an interim edition between our outgoing editor and the new editor whom we hope to identify and appoint in time for the September issue. In a recent diocesan survey on communication, Pobl Dewi received very positive feedback from respondents across the diocese. It is clearly appreciated not only within our churches, but also beyond them, and is recognised as a valued and important expression of communication within the life of the diocese.
We are deeply grateful to David Hammond-Williams, who generously stepped into the role of Editor in a voluntary capacity following the retirement of our previous editor, who laid down the mantle after many years of faithful and dedicated service. David’s willingness to serve during this period of transition has enabled Pobl Dewi to continue reaching our communities and sharing the life and witness of the Church throughout the diocese.
Producing this edition has not been without its challenges. At times we faced difficult decisions, including whether it would be possible to publish at all. However, through determination, commitment, and much hard work from those involved, we felt it was important that this issue should still go ahead, even in a scaled-down form.
Looking ahead, if Pobl Dewi is to continue in its present format and size, we would warmly welcome hearing from anyone who may feel called to become involved in the team, particularly in the role of Editor. While the wider team is always ready and willing to offer support, the role itself requires both time and a particular set of gifts and skills.
If you feel prompted to explore this opportunity, or simply wish to ask questions informally, please contact me at archdeacon.farah@cinw.org.uk. I would be delighted to speak to you, answer any questions I can, and, where necessary, connect you with others who may help further.
Pobl Dewi remains a key part of our diocesan life and communication strategy. Through it we speak not only to church members, but also to the wider public. The Church continues to carry a unique and much-needed voice for our times, and through this publication that voice can still be heard. Perhaps through its pages, the life, words, and love of Jesus Christ may touch hearts, encourage faith, and help people encounter the God who loves them.
