Deacon

‘Deacon’ comes the Greek word for ‘servant’. Deacons in the Church in Wales have special roles within worship such as proclaiming the gospel. Traditionally, deacons have had responsibility for social care. Deacons often go on to be ordained priest.

Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

Priest

‘Priest’ comes from the Greek word for ‘elder’. Priests in the Church in Wales are those authorised specifically to proclaim forgiveness of sins, preside at the Eucharist and bless God’s people, as well as other responsibilities.

Ordinations 2026

Rev Jo Dean - Priest. Jo will continue to serve as Assisstant Curate in the LMA of Bro Sanclêr.

Rev Sally Farah - Priest. Sally will continue to serve as Assistant Curate in the LMA of Bro Aman.

Esther Lockley - Deacon. Esther has been on placement in Bro Dinefwr LMA. Prior to discernment Esther worked as a pioneer evangelist in the Cross Hands Centre of Mission. She is married with two school age children. Esther will become Assistant Curate in the Bro Aman LMA following ordination.

Dr Magdalena Ohrman - Deacon. Magdalena has been on placement in the Dyffryn Teifi LMA.  Prior to ordination training she has worked as an academic and university administrator.  Magdalena is married and has dependant family.  Following ordination she will serve as Assistant Curate in the Bro Teifi LMA.

Jeremy Stone - Deacon. Jeremy has been on placement in the West Cardiff Ministry Area in Llandaff Diocese.  Jeremy was a licensed Reader and youth worker before discernment to stipendiary ministry.  He will have married just prior to ordination.  Jeremy will serve as Assistant Curate in the LMA of Greater Dewisland.

Enfys Thomas - Deacon. Enfys will be a Non-Stipendiary Assistant Curate in the LMA of Bro Cydweli.  A fluent Welsh speaker, Enfys has worked in nursing and the healthcare sector.  She has been on placement in London and St Davids dioceses. She is married.

Samuel Williams - Deacon. Samuel Joins the diocese from Cranmer Hall, Durham.  He initially studied in Lampeter and has family in the diocese.  He is married with children.  Samuel will become Assistant Curate in the Narberth and Tenby LMA.
