On the road again
Sophie Whitmarsh is gearing up for another diocesan youth pilgrimage and looking forward to what God might have in store.
The diocesan youth pilgrimage has now been running for two years. In year one, we had ten pilgrims, most of whom returned for year two, when we had 24. My prayer this year is that more young people will be able to experience the love and closeness to God we all experienced last year.

It starts on the 29th July and finishes on the 2nd August. It will be based at the Bunk Barns in St Davids and this year we have hired a coach to collect and drop off the pilgrims from wherever they live in the diocese. Bookings have begun to come in, and the deadline is at the end of June. So, if you know of any rising 11s (year 6 in school) to age 17-year-olds who would like to join us, please do ask them to book sooner rather than later. Booking forms are available on the Children, Youth and Families website.
This year, the pilgrimage will be based upon our diocesan theme of Salt & Light. Over the course of the five days we will walk the coastal path, stopping along the way at St Nons, Whitesands, Treginnis Farms for City children, where we hope to help them with their food bank work. Then, of course, there’s the beautiful Cathedral and shrine of St David, where we will spend some time exploring and worshipping. If that wasn’t enough, there will be games and activities, storytelling and bible study, time for souvenir shopping, and plenty of food. There will be time for fun and games and times for reflection and peace.
Angels
If you would like to support the pilgrimage, there is now an Angels scheme, whereby individuals or churches can sponsor the pilgrimage. In return for sponsorship, you will receive a postcard from the pilgrim you have sponsored and we will pray for you by name at the shrine. In addition to this, if you sponsor as a church, a member of the team, possibly accompanied by a pilgrim, will visit your church after the event to give a talk about the experience and how your contribution has helped.
Information about the pilgrimage and the angels scheme can be found on the Children, Youth and Families website, or by contacting Revd Sophie; sophiewhitmarsh@cinw.org.uk
