Below are a list of the current vacancies within the Diocese of St Davids.

The Bishop of St Davids wishes to appoint an Archdeacon of St Davids.

The Archdeaconry of St Davids covers most of Pembrokeshire and some of West Carmarthenshire. It is an ancient and historic area of Christian witness stretching back over 1500 years. It contains over 100 churches and is home to St Davids Cathedral.

The Archdeacon will be responsible for the guidance and pastoral support of over 30 stipendiary clerics and also many NSM, LLM Readers and laity exercising a variety of ministries. The Archdeacon will be a member of the Bishop’s senior team helping to shape mission and ministry across the diocese. As a member of the Diocesan Board of Finance and other committees the Archdeacon will need an eye for detail, a willingness to listen, to be a strategic thinker, and must be resilient.

The Bishop is looking for someone:

• Christ centred and rooted in prayer
• Able to work effectively as part of a team to realise the diocesan vision
• Committed to the needs of the Archdeaconry
• Pastorally sensitive, able to build bridges and resolve disagreements
• With experience of working successfully under pressure
• Able to identify and nurture the gifts and talents of others
• Who can encourage others to join them in the life and work of the church
• To model an appropriate ‘work life balance’
• Prepared to be a ‘critical friend’ and work collegiately
• Willing to share collective responsibility and support the senior team
• Who understands the diocesan structures and episcopal leadership
