St Davids Cathedral is opening doors on to some of its hidden treasures during the month of September.The cathedral is taking part in the Open Doors programme during Saturday 24th September, Sunday 25th September and Thursday 29th September. There will be free tours of rarely seen parts of the Cathedral, including medieval wall paintings, Cathedral Library and Treasury; the 14th century Gatehouse with its exhibition of pre-12th century carved crosses and stones, the Bell Tower, with bell ringing demonstrations and the Erw Dewi community garden in the Cathedral Close. Tours will be run jointly with the medieval St Davids Bishops Palace which is now managed by CADW, which runs the Open Doors programme.The Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Revd Dr Sarah Rowland Jones said “St Davids Cathedral is open to worshippers, pilgrims and visitors generally every day of the year.
