The Bishop of St Davids, Rt Revd Dorrien Davies, has appointed Tim Llewelyn as the new Chair of the St Davids Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF), following the retirement of his predecessor, Hazel Evans.Previously vice-chair, Mr Llewelyn, aged 60, said it was "an immense honour" to be asked to take on the role and thanked Mrs Evans for her leadership. "We all owe her a huge debt of gratitude," he said.He also paid tribute to his fellow board members, whom he will now lead. "I am incredibly lucky to chair a board made up of committed, dedicated and professional individuals all of whom give freely of their time," he said."I am also very conscious of the hard work and dedication of churches and Local Ministry Areas (LMAs) in all that they do to support the DBF. I want to recognise the key role that LMA officers play across the diocese and to ensure that they receive the appropriate levels of support and development opportunities from DBF officers."The new Chair comes from a banking background, having entered the profession straight from school, where the Bishop was a fellow pupil. Carmarthenshire born and bred, he attends St Peter's, Carmarthen, where he is also Treasurer. He is under no illusions about the task ahead. "My role is to ensure that the Board is well governed and that my fellow trustees receive appropriate levels of assurance based on evidence and facts."We live in challenging times and are not shielded from from the economic pressures facing us all. I am committed to ensuring that the monies entrusted to us are wisely spent on work that supports the mission and ministry of the diocese."
