The Tunnel of Hope
The Mothers’ Union has launched its latest fundraising campaign

The Tunnel of Hope is the work of MU member Jane Rees, who has spent several years putting together thousands of scraps of material, donated by fellow members, church congregations and well-wishers from across the diocese, all knotted together on to a metal frame.

“It’s a place where people can come and pray for what they wish for,” Jane says. “And it can be a photo opportunity wherever it goes.”
The idea is to send it on tour round different churches and MU branches, raising money for another MU pet project, Away From It All (AFIA), which Jane co-ordinates here in St Davids.
“It’s about helping those whose family life has met with adversity,” she explains. “This year, for example, we were able to give three hundred children a family day out at the National Botanical Garden of Wales.
“I’m very proud that so many people from different branches and organisations have helped is create it. And it’s ongoing. Hopefully, in a year’s time, when we celebrate 150 years of the Mothers’ Union, it will be twice the size it is today.”
