Would a diocesan grant help fund your project?

It did for the choir at St Peter’s Church, Carmarthen. The choir has expanded recently to include singers from other churches in Bro Caerfyrddin LMA to sing for special occasions. But this meant that they no longer had enough robes to go round.

An £1800 grant from the Diocesan Board of Finance enabled the choir to buy ten new sets, which made their first appearance at the service of Nine Lessons & Carols in St Peter’s just before Christmas.

The choir’s Director of Music, Glynis Morris, says the grant – and the robes it funded – will be step forward in the development of choral music across the LMA. “We are very grateful for the financial support that has made this possible,” she added.

You can see them in action on the Diocesan Grants page of the diocesan website, where you will also find more information about the criteria and an application form.

Grants of up to £3000 are awarded quarterly and are available to LMAs, churches and individuals to support projects that encourage mission and promote growth in numbers, growth in spirituality and outreach to local communities.

Applications must have the support of the Archdeacon and the LMA Council and must be claimed within 12 months of the project start date.
