Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

Prayer

Prayer sustains our human relationship with God and may involve words (formal or informal) or be silent. Prayer can involve adoration (‘I love you’), confession (‘sorry’), thanksgiving and supplication (‘please’).

2026 is a landmark year for Mothers’ Union, marking 150 years of faith in action. Diocesan President Glenys Payne looks ahead.

At the beginning of April we look forward to a visit to St Davids Diocese by our Worldwide President Kathleen Snow as she tours Wales, culminating in a visit to the Governing Body in North Wales. There will be many Celebrations across the Diocese including an open day in St Davids Cathedral on June 20th.

Aside from her visit to St Davids, the President is taking on a Global 150th Anniversary Challenge, completing fifteen 10km runs in dioceses around the world to raise funds and highlight MU’s worldwide fellowship.

Kathleen has already completed her first run in her home town of Fredericton, Canada, another in Bahrain during the Diocesan Synod of Cyprus and the Gulf, holding communities across the region in prayer as she runs.
