Back to school
Bishop Dorrien has been assigned the education portfolio for the Province on the Bench of Bishops, in addition to his responsibility for the Welsh language and bilingualism.
This is an area close to his heart and he has already taken a great interest in the work of schools in his diocese.
He is a keen supporter of lifelong learning,, seeing it as beneficial to laity and clergy alike. He has promoted and encouraged book groups, Lent courses and encourages Welsh language learning too.
Bishop Dorrien said: "I am determined to build on the Welsh Church's rich heritage of education from St Illtud's establishment in ancient times, the birth of university education in Lampeter, and the recent creation of St Padarn's Institute.
“I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunities to engage in learning throughout their life and I hope to play a meaningful part in the growth of Christian knowledge across our land.”
