Holy Communion

At Holy Communion blessed bread and wine is shared, by which we receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The congregation gives thanks for Jesus’ life, his death and resurrection and his continuing presence. See also Eucharist.

Prayer

Prayer sustains our human relationship with God and may involve words (formal or informal) or be silent. Prayer can involve adoration (‘I love you’), confession (‘sorry’), thanksgiving and supplication (‘please’).

Priest

‘Priest’ comes from the Greek word for ‘elder’. Priests in the Church in Wales are those authorised specifically to proclaim forgiveness of sins, preside at the Eucharist and bless God’s people, as well as other responsibilities.

Mary Rees reports on another successful annual trip to the East Anglian Shrine

Our 2024 pilgrimage was a very happy one and was both spiritually and socially rewarding. Here is a very brief diary of a wonderful five days spent there.

Walsingham 2024 2

Monday September 16th - Our group travels from Llanelli in a luxurious Gwynne Price coach! It is always a joy to arrive at the Shrine and to be immediately enveloped in the peace and beauty of England’s Nazareth.

Tuesday September 17th - A busy day ahead! Daily Morning Prayer is followed by a delicious breakfast and our bilingual Stations of the Cross. Lunch and then an afternoon trip to Wells next to the Sea. Dinner at 6.30pm is followed by the Shrine’s powerful and moving Healing Service.

Wednesday September 18th - Today we have the opportunity to walk the Holy Mile to the Roman Catholic Shrine (following in the footsteps of Henry VIII). After dinner we have Benediction and our joyful procession around the grounds - in darkness and lit by candlelight.

Thursday September 19th - Today is our day out! This year we have a very enjoyable day in Cromer with beautiful sunshine and crab sandwiches in abundance!! After dinner we look forward eagerly to Fr Philip Wyn Davies’ annual lecture before our final social meeting in the Norton Room.

Friday September 20th - Time has flown by and today is our final day here. Sadly, we leave for home but we feel blessed and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Before leaving we book for next year’s pilgrimage.

If you are interested in coming with us please contact me on 07947985191 or maryevanrhys@hotmail.co.uk Our lead priest is Fr Adrian Furze. We are always delighted to welcome new pilgrims. Croeso mawr!
