Blessed are the Poor & Vulnerable

Bishop Wyn’s St David’s Day Message

Every year on St David’s Day, the Bishop sends a message to AMs in The Senedd.

Greetings to the Presiding Officer and members of the National Assembly for Wales.

This year, once again, the people of Wales will vote to decide the shape of political life in our country for the next five years.

In the years since power was devolved to the Assembly, much has changed.  And it is about to change again.

Those who are elected will have new challenges and new priorities to deal with.

But some fundamental principles must continue to govern your deliberations.

Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, made a point of seeking out those most in need of care and comfort, wherever they were to be found and wherever they came from.

So must you, even – particularly – in times of economic stringency. It is in the way that we as a society deal with the weakest among us that we will be judged. And we look to our politicians to exercise leadership and set the tone for the future.
