The charity set up by St Davids Diocese to support farming families in crisis is “in fine fettle”, according to its Patron.
Broadcaster and current Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed Sara Edwards told the AGM of Tir Dewi (Dewi’s Land) she was “heartened” by the progress made in the short time the organisation had been operational.
The meeting heard that over 100 cases have been or are being dealt with, bringing vital support to 500 beneficiaries. Most of these had been as a result of referrals from partner organisations, such as farm unions, health agencies and the police.
Co-ordinator Gareth Davies said: “Our relationships are getting stronger; we are making new partnerships.”
Tir Dewi continues to recruit volunteers to help raise its profile and run its emergency helpline. But more are still needed and training is ongoing.
