Archdeacon Dorrien installed

The new Archdeacon of Carmarthen, Ven Dorrien Davies, has been officially installed at a service in St Davids Cathedral.

Archdeacon Dorrien, aged 53, succeeds Ven Roger Hughes who has retired after five years in the post.

He is also to be  Priest-in-charge of the benefice of St Clears w Llangynin & Llanddowror & Llanfihangel Abercywyn

It is a bit of a homecoming. The new archdeacon was born in Abergwili, just outside Carmarthen. And he has served all his ministry in St Davids Diocese.

Ordained in 1988, he was first an Assistant Curate in Llanelli before becoming Vicar of Llanfihangel Ystrad Aeron, Cribyn, Trefilan and Nantcwnlle, then Vicar of St Dogmaels, Moylegrove and Monnington

He was made a Canon in 2007 and three years later became Canon Residentiary and Team Vicar in the Rectorial Benefice of Dewisland, based at the Cathedral.

He is married to Rosie, who is a teacher.  They have two sons, Morgan and Lewis.  Dorrien’s interests include music, reading and painting.

We wish him well and pray for him as he starts the next chapter in his ministry.
