Wellies and worship at Walsingham

Nine members of a youth group from Milford Haven have just returned from a busy week at the annual Walsingham youth pilgrimage in Norfolk

The St Katherine’s Prayer & Pizza group have been attending the event for the past five years. But this was their biggest attendance yet..

While they were there, the group played a leading part in worship, forming part of the serving team, and also led a drama based on a Bible story.

One member even celebrated his seventeenth birthday there!

Speaking of the pilgrimage, Fr Harri Williams, Vicar of Milford Haven, said: ‘The Walsingham experience is transformative for our young people.

“Not only it is an opportunity for them to deepen their faith, but they gain in confidence as Christians and meet new friends.”

Walsingham has been a place of pilgrimage since 1061 and is known as England’s Nazareth as it was there that a replica of the Holy House in which Gabriel greeted the Blessed Virgin Mary was built.

The Youth Pilgrimage has run for more than 20 years, where hundreds of young Christians gather together to; share their faith, enjoy worship, and spend time in fellowship with one another.

Prayer and Pizza Youth Group runs in St Katharine’s Church Hall on a Sunday afternoon between 4.30pm until 6pm.

The group is aimed at young people aged between 10 and 18.

The group begins for the autumn on September 17.
