Salary: £23,022.51 – £24,188.07 (2 year fixed-term contract)

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Diocesan Office Team. You will assist, encourage and enable Local Ministry Area Councils and Church Committees in their financial management; identifying the resources required and available to fulfil their mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote a greater understanding of the principles of Christian giving, leading to further growth of culture of generosity within Local Ministry Areas (LMA) and across the Diocese
  2. Act as the liaison officer between local groups, the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) and its sub-committees, particularly to inform the work of the Ministry Share Group
  3. Work with local diocesan groups to assist, inspire, equip and resource their stewardship both practically and theologically
  4. Identify training needs of LMA and Church committee officers, particularly Treasurers, in managing finances and developing budgets which can assist sustaining and growing the Church
  5. Develop a network of LMA stewardship officers and offer professional advice in this area to the Bishop, Archdeacons and Diocesan Officers
  • You will be a proactive and confident public speaker and advocate with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • You will have, or be willing to acquire, an understanding of the theology of Anglican Christian generosity.
  • Experience or knowledge of church financial management processes, including budgeting, accounting, Gift Aid and preparing financial reports will be required in this role.
  • You will have experience of identifying and facilitating/delivering training.
  • A high level of self-motivation and the ability to plan meetings efficiently across a wide geographical area is essential.
  • Flexibility in your work approach will be key as you will be on the road and your working times will include evening hours.
