Lift up your Voice
Sat 22 September, 2.30 pm - 5.00 pm£5 - £7
The RSCM has developed the ‘Lift up your Voice’ programme to encourage the use of music in churches where there is no established choir or experienced organist. The programme focuses on building confidence in unison singing, simple harmony, call-and-response techniques and using a cantor in worship. The ‘Lift up your Voice’ repertoire consists of music meant for singing without complication – single-line, attractive, memorable music that gives a dignified lift to spoken worship but doesn’t require highly proficient singers or musicians to make it work successfully. The resources used can include plainsong, folk tunes, songs of the world church, hymns, psalms and worship songs – the aim is for the workshop to include something familiar and something new for everyone and that participants should go away with new ideas and confidence to refresh and expand music in worship in their local situation.
Everyone is welcome to take part, be they members of congregations, clergy, worship and music leaders, occasional singing groups, choirs, organ maestros, reluctant keyboard players, or shy instrumentalists. With plenty of participation, there will be something for everyone to take away.
