The harvest of the lockdown
By Cynthia Davies
For those who dried the tears of the sorrowful, who tended the sick, who comforted the comfortless and who supported the lonely;
Thanks be to God.
For those who fed us and kept us safe in our homes, in the shops and on the streets;
Thanks be to God.
For the stillness of the lock-down which helped us to appreciate the beauty of your creation;
Thanks be to God.
For our families, friends and neighbours who wrapped us in their love and care;
Thanks be to God.
For the expertise of the scientists who fashioned a vaccine to protect us and for the medical teams who administered it;
Thanks be to God.
For the wonders of technology which have enabled us to keep in touch when we could not meet;
Thanks be to God.
For politicians and officials who had the difficult task of trying to protect us;
Thanks be to God.
For the Church and its leaders who found new ways of conveying the good news;
Thanks be to God.
For giving us your Holy Spirit to sustain us and guide us during this lock-down;
Thanks be to God.
Help us to use what we have harvested to assist others and build a better future. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
