Canon Dorrien Davies is to be the next Archdeacon of Carmarthen.
He will take up the post in November, upon the retirement of his predecessor, Ven Roger Hughes, and will serve also as Priest-in-charge of the benefice of St Clears w Llangynin & Llanddowror & Llanfihangel Abercywyn
Canon Dorrien has been a prominent – and popular – figure at St Davids Cathedral for the past seven years where he has been Canon Residentiary
Ordained in 1988, he spent three years as Curate in Llanelli before being appointed Vicar of Llanfihangel Ystrad (1991-99) and then St Dogmaels (1999-2010). He was made Canon in 2007.
He said: “I am thrilled, honoured and delighted to be the next Archdeacon of Carmarthen. I look forward to working for and with the clergy and parishes of the Archdeaconry and supporting Bishop Joanna as we proclaim the Gospel of Christ and bring The Kingdom closer.”
